Passed Court!

The judge said "Dah"!! In 10 more days the girls will officially be mine.

I slept very little last night as I was soooo worried that the alarm wouldn't go off. I started waking up at 1am about every 30 minutes or so. By the time breakfast got here I was so nervous that I couldn't think of anything besides court.

Around 9:00am, Anna picked us up to head to the courthouse. Kathy and I decided that she would go in first. She thought my outfit was dressier than hers and I thought it would be a benefit to my case that she was a single mother adopting a second child. We figured her going first would work out for both of us. Kathy came out and we were thrilled to learn that she had passed court. Anna brought me back to the courtroom and Mom did get to come with me. Lynnette was not allowed to go with Kathy so we did not think Mom would get to come with me. Court was very intimidating - no smiling, judge never looked at me, etc... I was a nervous wreck by then anyways so it was pretty intimidating. They mainly concentrated on me being single and wanting to adopt two (which is what I expected). Lots of questions about family support, time off from work, getting children evaluated and what type of home I will provide. There was a judge, prosecutor, social worker, and court reporter. The prosecutor looked just like the gym teacher on Glee! Everyone was very serious except the social worker who smiled at me several times and spoke about how loving and great I was with the kids. I am very appreciative of her! Finally the judge informed me that she would accept my petition to adopt. It was such an amazing moment! I can't describe the feeling.

We ran home to change and head back to Travelor's Coffee. We have Internet connection here and I couldn't wait to post to everyone. I think we will take it easy the rest of the day. We are VERY tired. Tomorrow we leave for St. Petersburg. I will try to post when possible, not sure where I will have Internet connection.

I pick up the babies on the 15th! I can not wait.
